Robbery, Domestic Assault and Child Endangerment Arrest
(Posted 7/10/2020)

On Friday July 10, 2020 just before 6:00 a.m., Yuba County Sheriff Deputies arrested 46-year-old Dechunn Thomas in the 5600 block of Arboga Rd in Olivehurst for Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Domestic Violence Assault, Child Endangerment, and Obstructing an Investigation. The incident began at approximately 5:00 a.m. when Deputies responded to a 911 call at the Rio Inn on N. Beale Road reporting a domestic assault involving a suspect attempting to run over a female with his vehicle, assaulting her, and taking her purse before fleeing the area. The victim, who was not injured, identified Dechunn Thomas as the suspect. At 5:15 a.m., Deputies conducting an area search for the suspect located Thomas in the 5600 block of Arboga Road as he approached his residence in a vehicle. Suspect Thomas was ordered by Deputies to stop, but proceeded to run from the Deputies into the residence. Deputies on scene attempted to negotiate with Thomas for approximately 45 minutes to come out of the house so they could conduct their investigation. There were children present at the home and deputies were concerned for their welfare and were attempting to avoid a barricaded suspect incident. Ultimately, Thomas exited the home and was arrested without further incident. A cell phone containing video of the incident as recorded by a female at the residence was taken as evidence of the obstructing actions of the suspect during the course of the investigation. Thomas was booked into Yuba County Jail with a bail of $50,000.
