Man Suffers Gunshot Wound in Linda
(Posted 10/24/2019)

Yuba County Sheriff Deputies were called to a local hospital at approximately 1:15 A.M. on 10/22/19 regarding a man who had arrived by private vehicle to the Emergency room with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was taken into surgery with potentially life threatening injury and as of this date continues to the recover at the hospital in serious but stable condition. His wife reported to Detectives that she picked him up on Garden Avenue in Linda at which time she discovered he had suffered a gunshot wound, and transported the victim to the hospital. The victim of the gunshot wound is a 31-year-old Olivehurst man. Despite multiple efforts by detectives to interview the victim, he does not wish to cooperate in the investigation. During the course of the investigation, detectives have gathered enough information to lead them to believe the shooting was accidentally self-inflicted by the victim and do not believe there to be an outstanding suspect responsible for the shooting. The victim is a previously convicted felon who cannot legally possess guns or ammunition, which detectives believe is a contributing factor in the victim refusing to be interviewed about the incident. At this time, the initially reported attempted homicide is considered unfounded and the investigation is closed, unless and until further information becomes available to determine otherwise.
