Wanted Parolee and Mail Theft Suspect Arrested
(Posted 1/10/2019)

On Wednesday 1/9/19 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department along with the CDC Fugitive Apprehension Team located and subsequently arrested wanted parolee and mail theft suspect Damien Cooper at a home in the 1700 block of 10th Avenue in Olivehurst. Cooper initially hid in the attic of the home, but was talked into surrendering. He was taken into custody without further incident just before 3:30 p.m. The suspect was wanted for a parole violation in addition to being a suspect in multiple mail thefts from the Yuba County Foothills in December. Cooper, a 29-year-old man from Olivehurst, fled from Yuba County Deputies in a vehicle pursuit around midnight on 12/27/2018 from Smartsville, ultimately crashing his vehicle. Cooper and a female passenger were pulled from the vehicle by the pursuing deputy, moments prior to the vehicle catching fire. Cooper, who was unconscious at the time, was transported by air to a Sacramento area hospital for treatment. Cooper was discharged from the hospital the following day before law enforcement was notified; and remained wanted until yesterday’s arrest. He was booked into the Yuba County Jail on various charges including violating parole, resisting arrest, possession of drugs, and weapons violations. Cooper is not eligible for bail at this time. Charges related to the December vehicle pursuit and mail thefts are pending DA review and additional investigation.
