(Posted 1/9/2019)

1/11/19 Update 11:00 a.m.: Yuba County Sheriff Detectives are actively investigating the death of Jose “Juan” Lule as a Homicide. Details about the cause of death will not be released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. In answer to several inquiries, and to address the speculation that this was a “hit and run” fatality; no, it was determined not to be a “hit and run” accident. 1/10/19 Update 2:00pm: The Yuba County Coroner's Office has identified the deceased man as 33 year old Jose "Juan" Lule of Olivehurst. An Autopsy is being completed today, 1/10/19 to determine official cause of death. 1/9/19: Just before 7:00 a.m. today 1/9/19, Yuba County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from a citizen reporting a body discovered on the side of the road near an agriculture business in the 1900 block of Feather River Blvd south of Olivehurst. Sheriff Deputies responded to find a deceased Hispanic man in his mid-30’s located in a muddy area off the roadway. Investigators do not believe the body had been there more than 24 hours and are considering the death suspicious due to physical injury observed, and the location where he was found; however, official cause of death is pending autopsy. The identity of the decedent is being withheld until notification to his family is completed. As of 3:30pm, Algodon Rd leading to Feather River Blvd and 1900 block of Feather River Blvd remain closed while the scene is processed. Roadways are expected to be re-opened by nightfall.
