SHERIFF’S RESERVE PROGRAM
The Sheriff’s Reserve Program
supports the Patrol Unit, and is an important element of the
Department. It is a non-profit organization comprised of men
and women who are interested in serving their community by
devoting time to law enforcement. Reserve Deputies assist with
patrol functions, corrections, marine enforcement, crime scene
security, search and rescue operations, marijuana eradication,
and special events. Reserves are compensated for their time.
Anyone interested in applying for
the program must have minimally completed a P.O.S.T. accredited
832 P.C. course, and the Level III and Level II modular law
enforcement academies. These courses are offered at most
community colleges, including Yuba Community College.
The selection process consists of
a review of the application to ensure the applicant meets the
minimum qualifications, an interview panel, a comprehensive
background investigation, a physical examination and a
psychological evaluation.
Anyone interested in applying for
the Reserve Program may contact the Program Liaison, Lieutenant
Shaun Smith, at 749-7734. Applications are also available at
the Sheriff’s Department’s main office located at 215 5th
Street, Marysville, CA 95901.
