Residential Burglary Arrest
(Posted 5/4/2018)

The Yuba County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office responded to a 911 call of a residential burglary in progress with residents at home, in the 9000 block of Loma Rica Rd on 5/2/2018 at approx. 12:50am. The caller reported an unknown Hispanic male had just broken the backdoor using a hammer and made entry into their home. The caller advised her husband had armed himself with a shotgun and pointed it at the suspect who was holding a hammer in one hand and a knife in the other. Upon seeing the armed resident, the suspect ran out of the home. The residents identified the hammer the suspect was carrying as one of their own, which was taken from the garage. Deputies arrived on scene to find the backdoor of the house damaged and the garage open. The hammer used by the suspect was found lying on the ground next to the home. A Yuba County Sheriff K9 was used to conduct an area search but the suspect was not located. The victims provided a description of the suspect that matched a recently arrested man that was familiar to our deputies. The victims were shown a photo lineup and were able to positively identify that suspect as the same man who had just broken into their home. Deputies responded to a prior known address of the suspect on Plantz Rd in Marysville, but he was not present at that time. During a subsequent check of that location by Yuba County Deputies at approximately 6am, the suspect was located and taken into custody. Arrested was 25-year-old Manuel Collazo-Rosela of Marysville. He was booked into the Yuba County Jail for Burglary and Commission of a felony while out of jail on court ordered release on his own recognizance. Collazo-Rosela was previously released from Yuba County Jail on 4/30/18 following his arrest by Yuba County Sheriff’s Department on 4/26/18, for Criminal Threats and Obstruction. Collazo-Rosela is pending court action in that case.
