Arrest Made in Assault Case
(Posted 5/12/2014)

Suspect: Shaun Jeroue, 28 from Olivehurst
Victim: Branden Hamilton of Marysville
Location of incident 6100 block of Gossett Way, Marysville

On 05-10-14, at 3:18 pm, Yuba County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call regarding someone possibly being shot at 6100 block of Gossett Way. The caller advised that a female could also be heard yelling for help near that location.

As deputies responded to the call, the callers provided additional information to dispatch and indicated that a man was running away from the scene, and that the white male's face was covered in blood.

Deputies located the victim, Branden Hamilton, at his brother's residence in Linda. He had injuries to his face which required medical attention. He was transported to Rideout Hospital and treated for a facial injury, and later released. Hamilton was uncooperative but admitted he had been in an altercation today at an apartment on Gossett Way. He said he had been assaulted by a man and during the altercation he was struck several times in the face by something other than a fist. Hamilton later identified the suspect Shaun Jeroue.

Jeroue was located hiding in a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Gossett Way apartments. Jeroue was positively identified by several witnesses as being in possession of a handgun before the altercation. The evidence at the scene supported at least one round had been fired in to the ground. There was no evidence to support anyone had been shot.

Jeroue was later arrested for violation of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm.
