Olivehurst Shooting Leaves One Dead, Three Wounded
At approximately 10:00 pm Sunday, February 3, 2013, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department received several 911 calls of shots fired in the area of Poplar Ave. near Almond Ave. Responding deputies and investigators learned that suspect(s), possibly driving a dark colored car, fired several shots in the direction of the Yang residence in the 5800 block of Poplar Ave., according to Sheriff Steve Durfor. There was a family gathering taking place at the Yang residence at the time of the shooting with several family members in attendance. Four people were struck by shots, one being fatally wounded. Teng Yang, 20, of Olivehurst was pronounced dead at the scene An autopsy is scheduled for later today (2/4/13) to determine the cause of death. The three others shot in the incident were a 24 year old Olivehurst man, a 19 year old Olivehurst woman and a 27 year old man, also of Olivehurst. All were taken to area hospitals, their conditions were not thought to be life-threatening. Their names are being withheld pending additional investigation. A motive for the shooting is still under investigation, gang involvement has not been ruled out.
